take back our crowns

Reclaim your sovereignty women. Why should a society of elites have a say over how you govern your body? Let us have that discussion.

‍ ‍

With the incoming of a christianized president, women are once again facing a gauntlet of law changes designed to take their power away. Another era of darkness looms like a storm ready to release its vengeance on femineity. Currently, the nation seeks to sweep way the privilege of life from a woman who commits the sin of abortion on the premise of protecting the sanctity of life.[1] Why has it come to this again, after millennia of civil rights movements, the United States seeks to destroy such progress?

‍ ‍

While this development appears to be, on its face, a religious movement. Frankly, that is the only way they can persuade women to participate in the dehumanization of their own gender. Without religion, which we are supposed to uphold the constitutional right of freedom of religion. Never mind the entire part where there the government should remain objective according to Thomas Jefferson,

‍ ‍

“Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation on behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.[2]

‍ ‍

Now one may argue that the criminalization of abortion has nothing to do with religion. If that is so, then what about the life of an established human?

‍ ‍

The argument for illegalizing abortion becomes quite cloudy at this point. Because if indeed it is about the preservation of life, a life that has already grown roots in a community, family, religious organization, school and pays taxes is far more valuable than a life that has no definitions yet. Politicians are no longer asking whether a life is considered viable, they are assuming that upon conception the fetus will come to terms and be a viable human in society. (Touchy subject, I know).

‍ ‍

Please do not misunderstand me. I personally hold no personal investment in whether a person has an abortion or not. The discussion is merely about the validity of the current administration’s claims. So, let us discuss those issues, not my personal beliefs. Because under my personal beliefs everyone is damned and headed to a no man’s land.

So, then what constitutes as viable? Is it a person who can eat and breathe without assistance? Does the human have an intelligence level that provides rather than takes? Does the being need to be of a specific gender, race, or creed? Trust me, these are all valid questions. Tough questions that are avoided because they are considered insensitive. Hey, wait a minute, insensitive?! We are not comfortable talking about the viability of life, but okay with saying let’s put women to death for making a choice that might save your life. This is the conundrum I want to address, what do you have to say about this? Not what you have read, not what your church tells you, think for yourself. Be real, be respectful, have your feelings. But know that the conversation you are really having is with yourself because this is a personal matter. So, why is the government involved?
